Redistricting

The Santa Barbara City College District Board of Trustees seeks the public’s input as it moves forward with a process to evaluate and adjust the boundaries of the seven trustee areas of the district. This is known as redistricting.

Redistricting is required following the release of data from each United States census, conducted every 10 years. SBCCD has contracted the services of Cooperative Strategies to assist it with this process.

An evaluation of existing voting areas and initial proposed scenarios for adjusting the boundaries of those areas will be presented at the Board of Trustees meeting on January 20. That meeting is open to the public, will be conducted via Zoom and available to livestream or view after its conclusion. The presentation, including current and draft maps for the district, is also available below.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 at 4 p.m. over Zoom. An overview of the trustee areas and two proposed scenarios will be shared and comments from the public are welcome. Requests to speak may be sent in advance by sending an email to jtuazon@pipeline.sbcc.edu by 3:30 p.m. the day of the meeting. Participants may also request to participate during the meeting via Zoom.
