Library Resources for Basic Needs

National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week is a time to reflect on basic needs in our community. From housing and food to healthcare, safety and education, many people are living without the basic resources considered to be human rights. The library's Hunger or Homelessness Research Guide includes local support contacts, studies, legal help, recommended reading, and more. SBCC's Basic Needs Center will also be hosting events this week. Please see the schedules below:

Schedule for Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, SBCC: The Well and  Basic Needs Center:  Monday 11/13 - Student Resource Fair, Basic Needs Resource Fair, Friendship Plaza, 11:00am-2:00am, Free produce bags for participants! This resource fair brings awareness from campus and local agencies who will assist students with their food, housing, and mental wellness needs and more. You will have the opportunity to speak with Path, TAY, 5 Keys, WIDA, AmeriCorps, Safe Parking Program, The Well, STEM, CalFresh, Financial Aid. Tuesday 11/14 - Film Screening, Us & Them, CESJ Hub (CC-228) , 11:30pm. US & THEM shatters misconceptions about why people end up on the streets, and reveals why the "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" narrative is heavily flawed.  Tuesday 11/14 - Resource, One Stop at the HUB, CESJ Hub (CC-228), l:OOpm - 3:30pm. Students can get assistance in Housing, Ca IF resh, Medical, and The Well! You'll be able to ask questions and make appointments!

Thursday 11/16 - Film Screening, Us & Them, CESJ Hub (CC-228) , 1:30pm.
