Nursing Assessment
Illness assessment with individual counseling for self-care, and campus or community doctors referrals, if necessary. Drop in for a nursing assessment or call the office, 965-0581 ext.2298, for an appointment.
First Aid
- Walk in
- If student injured & unable to come to Student Health office, staff will respond prepared to address any emergency.
Over-the-Counter Medication
- Single doses of commonly used over the counter medicines.
- Band-Aids, condoms and feminine products also available
Physician Clinic
On campus services are limited to basic visits, assessment, examination & simple treatment of short term/acute illness and minor, uncomplicated medical problems, prescription and home care instructions. Doctor appointments are scheduled by the RN, after an initial assessment has been completed.
Doctor visits are free of charge to students currently enrolled at SBCC. Student ID card required. Prescriptions and lab tests have a nominal fee and will be charged to the student at the time of service.
Some services requiring outside referral are routine physical examinations, chronic disease management, extensive diagnostic tests (lab or x-ray), more complicated assessments / treatments, physical/respiratory therapy or other invasive procedures/exams. (Discount may apply but cost remains the responsibility of the student.
Men’s & Women’s Clinic
Services for women include:
- Annual pelvic exams and PAP
- Breast exams
- Birth control pills, Depo-provera, condoms/spermicides
- STI/yeast/vaginitis tests and treatment
- Information counseling and referrals
Services for men include:
- Genital and testicular exams
- Condoms/spermicides
- STI test and treatments
- Information counseling and referrals
Stop by the office to make an appointment, there is a small amount of paperwork to be completed. (SS 170)
Health Screenings
- Blood pressure
- Height & weight
- Tuberculosis test
- Cholesterol screening
- Glucose screening
Community Referrals
Information regarding various community agencies is available, and referrals will be made as needed. Many agencies provide a student discount.
Capmus Accident Insurance Coverage
SBCC offeres a secondary insurance policy to cover students for accidental injuries that occur in class or college sponsored activities. Accidents must be reported to the Student Health Services office (SS-170) within 72 hours. Students must first submit claims to their private primary insurance. There is a $50 deductible on claims submitted to the campus secondary policy. For full information on this coverage, bulletins are available at the Health Services Office (SS-170).
