Board of Trustees

Board members directly represent the people of the SBCC District (Carpinteria to Goleta) in determining board general policies and making decisions, which govern the total operations of the entire District and Santa Barbara City College.

The seven members of the Santa Barbara Community College District Board of Trustees are elected at large by District voters for four-year terms and represent areas within the District.

The Board meets at 4:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month (unless otherwise announced) in Room 211, in the MacDougall Administration Center. Meetings are open to the public. Please call (805) 730-4011 with questions, Monday-Friday.

Dr. Kathryn O. Alexander

Dr. Alexander has been a member of the Governing Board since May 1965 and is immediate Past President of the Board.

Dr. Joe W. Dobbs

Dr. Dobbs has been a member of the Governing Board since December 1971 and is currently President of the Board.

Mrs. Sally D. Green

Mrs. Green has been a member of the Governing Board since December 2006 and is currently Vice President of the Board

Mr. Morris M. Jurkowitz

Mr. Jurkowitz has been a member of the Governing Board since August 2003.

Ms. Joan M. Livingston

Ms. Livingston has been a member of the Governing Board since December 1993.

Dr. Desmond O'Neill

Dr. O'Neill has been a member of the Governing Board since December 1994.

Mr. Luis A. Villegas

Mr. Villegas has been a member of the Governing Board since March 1993.

Ms. Nicole L. Ridgell

Ms. Ridgell was elected student trustee in April of 2009. Along with playing an active role in student senate, she is in the honors program at SBCC, and is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She aspires to earn a degree in immunology from a four year institution.
