Troops to College at SBCC Veteran's and Dependent's Student Success Support
Welcome to the Veterans Affairs Office. Our objective is to offer information and assistance to Veterans and Dependents of Veterans eligible for Veterans Educational Assistance. SBCC academic counseling, career, transfer, tutorial and other services are part of SBCC's mission to offer eligible program participants with support to achieve their educational goals.
Students maybe eligible to receive a monthly check depending on the program that they qualify for: Veterans Educational Benefits (Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 30, 32 and 1606, 1607 (REAP)) and/or Dependent's Educational Assistance Program Chapter 35 of Title U.S. Code. The Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office can inform you of your eligibility at 1-800-827-1000 or with the following link: Education Service Claim Inquiry.
VETERANS PRIORITY REGISTRATION is available to Veterans (any member or former member of the armed forces of the United States of America) within two years of leaving active duty, including, but not necessarily limited to, any student who is called to active military duty compelling the student to take an academic leave of absence. For additional information on Veterans Priority Registration you may contact SBCC Admissions and Records.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope you choose Santa Barbara City College. Questions or Comments about the Veterans Affairs Program may be sent to: Magdalena Torres, torres@sbcc.edu
