Established in 1909, SBCC is a public two-year college which offers both academic and technical/vocational certificates and associate degrees. Known for its outstanding faculty and curriculum, SBCC is a premier California Community College and a leader in preparing students to transfer to respected universities and colleges. International students have always played an important role in the life of the college. Traditionally, a large percentage of international students have excelled academically while at SBCC, which is attributed to the high quality of teaching by SBCC faculty. The College: An Overview

SBCC IS A COMMUNITY COLLEGE with close to 19,000 students, including 900 international students. In addition to providing excellent transfer preparation (the first two years of study toward the four-year baccalaureate degree) for universities, SBCC offers over 100 associate degree and certificate programs in a wide range of occupational/career fields, and a variety of general education opportunities. The college is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Program courses equivalent to four-year college and university work are accepted by all WASC member institutions and most other colleges and universities in the United States.
