About SBCC Women's Soccer
The Women's Soccer program has an excellent reputation for academic and soccer excellence, with
facilities and campus second to none. We play all our home games and train at our
own La Playa Stadium, a third-generation state-of-the-art artificial turf field, in
a beautiful setting only 50 yards from the beach and Pacific Ocean.
In 2007, we added a fully equipped Life Fitness Center for strength training and also a full medical/training room. We also take pride in our Student-Athlete Achievement Zone to ensure that our athletes are fulfilling their potential as college students. To complement these marvelous facilities, we have a vastly experienced coaching staff, faculty and administrative staff who will ensure that you progress to your goals both as a soccer player and a student.

Coach John Sisterson is 101-35-31 in eight seasons as head coach of the SBCC Women's
Soccer program. He was named Coach of the Year in the WSC North after leading the
women to the 2011 WSC title with an 11-1 record. It was a banner year as the men's
team, which he also coaches, claimed the WSC title as well. It's the first time one
school won both titles in the same year.
John's record at SBCC (for men and women) stands at 119-27-28 in the Western State Conference and 186-66-50 overall (through 2012), guiding the women to a National Ranking as high as #5 in 2011, #13 in 2010, #5 in 2008 and #6 in 2007. Born in England, John has vast experience in coaching. He was the head coach for the U.S. Women's Deaf Olympic Team from 2003-09. The team won the gold medal in the Deaf Olympics in Melbourne, Australia in January 2005, beating Russia in the Olympic Stadium to cap a perfect 7-0 run in Olympic competition. Coach Sisterson had signed a new contract to lead the team to the next Olympics in Chinese Tapei in Sept 2009 but because of the SBCC soccer schedule and commitments he chose to resign his position to ensure continuity at SBCC.
John has also coached at the University of Texas A&M, the high school level, ODP, and in Europe. Coach Sisterson was involved in Club Soccer as a Director of Coaching and Player Development in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also an Associate Staff Coach for the National Soccer Coaches of America. John holds NSCAA (Premier and Advanced), UEFA (Europe), FA (England), and USSF Coaching licenses. Coach Sisterson has Masters and Bachelors Degrees in Physical Education and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches of America.
The women's team won its first WSC North crown in 2011. John is also the head coach of the SBCC Men's Soccer team, which has won WSC championships in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Coach Sisterson was the Western State Conference Coach of the Year for both men and women in 2011. He was also voted 2008 WSC Men's Coach of the Year.
