2008-09 Accomplishments

  *** 22-13 overall
*** 8-4 WSC North Conference record
  *** Seeded 18th for 2009 Playoffs

*** Katie Randall, a first-team All-WSC North choice for SBCC,
is going home to continue her basketball career at Wayne State (Neb.).
Randall, who was all-conference for two years as a setter on the
volleyball team, averaged 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals for
the Vaqueros in her third year at SBCC. The basketball team posted
its third 20-win season in the last four years (22-13).

Wayne State is an NCAA Div. 2 school located in Wayne, Neb., which
is 180 miles from Randall's high school in Gibbon, Neb. "I was so happy
that Katie decided she could be a two-sport athlete," said Vaquero coach
Sandrine Krul. "She was a two-year starter for us and matured immensely.
I'm incredibly proud of her. She came to SBCC to get a scholarship and she did it!"

*** Lauren Wells is heading to Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont,
Calif. "I am also thrilled Lauren will continue to play basketball," said Krul. "I
think the next two years are going to help her become that much more
competitive and even a greater point guard."

*** Josey Piercey will try to make the Fresno State cross country team as a
walk-on. Piercey, a defensive specialist, made honorable mention All-WSC
with averages of 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds. She recently got into
long-distance running and has competed in marathons.
"She is a coach's dream physically," Krul noted. "She is athletic, she
runs and she leads. Josie will do great things at Fresno State."
