HOW CAN YOU HELP?

1. Giving

SBCCTG has been providing Santa Barbara with high quality, affordable theatre for more than a quarter of a century. We combine professional actors, directors and designers with community artists and SBCC's outstanding students to create a unique and rewarding theatrical experience that enriches the lives of both the audience and the performers. For years,we have provided our audiences with quality productions at the lowest ticket prices in town.

How do we do it? In part, at least, with the generous support of our donors.

When you give a gift to the SBCC Theatre Group, you help both the performer and the audience, ensuring that quality will be high and prices will remain low.

All gifts are tax deductible.

To make a donation to the Theatre Group or to the Equity Guest Artist Fund, please contact the Santa Barbara City College Foundation @ 805-965-0581 ext. 2601 or
Rick Mokler, Production Chairman @
805-965-0581 ext. 2325.

THE EQUITY GUEST ARTIST FUND

An alternative to making donations to the general fund of the Theatre Group is to direct your gift specifically toward THE EQUITY GUEST ARTIST FUND at the SBCC Foundation.

One of the great experiences for an outstanding student actor is to work along side a professional actor. In past years we have employed from one to three Equity Guest Artists each season to improve the quality of the production and enhance the experience for our students.

The Equity Guest Artist contract calls for a weekly contribution from SBCCTG of about $650. (This includes salary, pension and welfare). Since most guest artists come from out of town, it is also necessary for us to house actors according to Equity rules. This adds about $600 more per week to our costs, bringing the total to approximately $1,250/week. The average Equity contract covers a five week rehearsal period and an additional three week performance run for an eight week total. The average cost to fully employ one out-of-town actor for one show, is about $10,000.

By giving to the Guest Artist Fund, you enhance the experience for our community and student actors, improve the quality of our productions, and allow us to keep tickets affordable.

DO YOU OWN A GUESTHOUSE?

By letting a visiting professional actor stay in your detached guest house, you save the Theatre Group as much as $5,000 in housing costs. It's a great way for you to help the theatre and maybe make a new friend in the process.

If you would like to loan us your guest cottage to house a visiting guest artist, please contact us so we can make arrangements to see the property and discuss the particulars.

...2. Volunteers

SBCCTG uses volunteers in two areas:

Production crews

If you have ever wanted to work backstage on a major production, SBCCTG may have a place for you. Remember that volunteering to work on a play is a big time commitment, but you'll meet new people and feel a satisfaction that is unique to the theatre.

Contact Patricia Frank at frank@sbcc.edu to work on scenery,
or Mary Gibson at gibson@sbcc.edu to work on costumes.

Ushers

SBCC needs ushers for every show. Ushers take tickets, pass out programs and help patrons find their seats. Then they get to see the show for free. It's a great way to see a play and feel like you're a part of things at the same time.
If you'd like to usher, call the Garvin Box Office at 965-5935 and sign up. It's fun and it's easy.
