PROGRAM DIRECTORS

Dr. John Kay, Professor of Political Science, has taught at Santa Barbara City College since 1965.  Dr. Kay holds B.A., M.A., and PhD degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  He was awarded a Fullbright grant in 1982 to study in India and, in 1984, he was chosen by his peers to be Annual Faculty Lecturer.  In 1985, 1989, 1994, 1998,and 2001, he directed the SBCC Cambridge Semester Abroad Program as well as, in 1987 and 2004, the Semester Abroad Program in China. 

Barbara Bell, Associate Professor of English, has been teaching composition and literature since 1988. After earning her B.A. and M.A. degrees at Texas A&M University, she held a teaching position at Francis Marion University before joining the SBCC faculty in 1997. During the fall of 2005, she completed a sabbatical project dedicated to the study of Creative Nonfiction. Ms. Bell spent a semester in London as an undergraduate and has traveled through England on numerous occasions.
