PROGRAM DIRECTORS

Dr. Carrie Hutchinson is one of the Program Directors for SBCC’s trip to Prague, Berlin and Amsterdam. She is a tenured instructor in the Communication Department with a Ph.D. from UCSB. Dr. Hutchinson has been teaching at SBCC for more than 10 years and has directed numerous study abroad programs to destinations including Australia, India, Spain and Portugal, Rwanda, South Africa and London. She also spent one year as the traveling professor for the University of Colorado’s Education Abroad Program, during which she traveled throughout North America, Asia, and Europe teaching students Intercultural and Interpersonal Communication, Conflict, and Leadership. During her undergraduate education she studied abroad at the University of Costa Rica. Dr. Hutchinson has written textbooks in each of her areas of expertise, Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication, and she looks forward to teaching these classes once again in a foreign setting where everyday life becomes a classroom! 

Professor Curtis Bieber has worked on the creative side of Film and Video Production for over 19 years as a Director, Cinematographer, Editor and Motion Graphic Artist for clients such as Nike and Volkswagen.  His work has been shown theatrically, and broadcast in North America, Europe and Japan.  In addition to living abroad for two years, he has traveled to over 30 countries in six continents.  He has directed SBCC’s study abroad programs in Australia, Spain and Portugal, and Rwanda.  Professor Bieber is Chair of the Film and Television Production Department at Santa Barbara City College, and has taught Production for 13 years, and has lectured at UCSB and Antioch University.
