PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In the summer of 2009, SBCC will be offering a new three-week film program in the exciting cosmopolitan European cities of Prague, Berlin, and Paris. These cities were chosen for their relevance to filmmaking, film history, and because of their overall cultural and artistic appeal. Program participants will study screenwriting, as well as the great directors, the film history, and the contemporary films of the Czech Republic, Germany, and France and will learn to understand the relation between film and art through visits to museums, galleries, and exhibitions as well as film screenings, archives, studios, and sets. There will be daily classes (lectures, discussions, workshops, film clips, and screenings) with daily lab time at cinematheques, film museums, film studios, special effects houses, etc, as well as historical and art museums and landmarks. Students will complete most of their assignments on the class blog.
