PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Dr. Ana María Ygualt joined the Spanish Department at Santa Barbara City College
in the fall, 1993. She came from the University of California at Santa Cruz where
she taught Spanish Literature and Culture for five years. In the spring of 1990, she
was the director for the Study Abroad Program in Morelia, Mexico for UCSC, and in the
summers of 1994, 1995, and 1996, she was the director of SBCC's Spanish Language Study
in Salamanca, Spain. In 1997, she directed SBCC's Spanish Language Study in
Cuernavaca, Mexico. In 1998, she directed SBCC's first summer program in Marbella, Spain,
and in the spring of 2001, she directed SBCC's first semester program in Granada, Spain.
In 2003 she returned to Spain to direct the summer program in Marbella, and in 2004 and 2006,
she directed SBCC's semester programs in Chile and Argentina. Dr. Ygualt, a native
of Chile, holds a B.A., an M.A. and a PhD in Hispanic Literatures and Languages from
the University of California, Santa Barbara.
