Deadline for application: May 1, 2016.  Apply early as the number of places is limited.  Applicants may be accepted after the deadline if space is available.  Application forms will be available at the SBCC Study Abroad Office, and online.

An interview with a staff member of the Study Abroad Office will be scheduled upon receipt of your application and deposit.  If you live outside the Santa Barbara area, you may be interviewed by telephone.

Program Orientation. A mandatory pre-departure orientation program will be conducted at SBCC in August, addressing general aspects of study abroad and cross-cultural learning and providing practical information regarding preparation and travel. Please check with the Study Abroad Office for the exact date before you make your travel arrangements.

An on-site orientation in Madrid held by ACCENT on the day after arrival covers practical matters as well as aspects of cross-cultural living and learning, giving program participants the tools they need to make the most of their time in Madrid. A practical walking tour of the areas in Madrid around the ACCENT Center will be conducted as part of the ACCENT orientation.

The general orientation includes a tour of the ACCENT facilities and addresses local customs, money, personal safety, emergency contingency plan, telephones, communications, transportation, etc. The housing orientation provides information specific to living in Madrid and in the student apartments. Orientation materials include maps, practical living information, as well as a copy of "Madrid at your Fingertips."
