HIT - Health Information Technology
The Health Information Technology (HIT) Program prepares students for positions in health information/medical records departments at health care facilities and alternative health care systems. Duties include compiling, analyzing, evaluating and maintaining health data; controlling the use and release of health information; and supervising staff. All HIT courses are offered online. Students must complete mandatory online orientation activities for each course.

HT - Health Technology
HT 111 is offered in the Fall in a semester-length day class with approximately six to eight meetings. Dates are announced at the first class session. During the Spring Semester, HT 111 is offered in two formats. Both are one-unit courses. The evening section is semester-length but with only six to eight meetings. The second section is offered as a two-day (Saturday-Sunday) session. See course listings for dates and times.
Both HT 111 formats meet requirements for recertification, and require a current EMT-B certificate and current CPR certificate.
HT 120 is offered in the Fall Semester in the day and in the Spring Semester in the evening. See course listing for dates and times.
HT 150/VN 150 is offered in the last half of every third semester. The next time it is offered is Fall 2004. It is generally offered in six-hour sessions with a lunch break on four Saturdays. The last session for clinical laboratory will be determined at the first class meeting. See course listing for dates and times. See the SBCC General Catalog for course description. Enrollment is limited to licensed nurses (LVN or RN) or students currently enrolled in SBCC ADN or VN nursing courses. Fulfills requirements for I.V. Therapy Certification by the LVN State Board. There is a materials fee of $25.00.
HT 110 - EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN-BASIC (5.0 UNITS)
Provides knowledge and practical application of skills for treatment of acute/emergency injury and illness. Fulfills requirements for EMT-B certification. Must be 18 years old by the end of the 4th week of the semester. LIMITATION ON ENROLLMENT: Current CPR certificate for either the Health Care Provider or the Professional Rescuer.
