PREREQUISITES
1. Eligibility for Math 107 - Intermediate Algebra.
2. Eligibility for English 110 - Freshman English & Composition.
3. Complete BioMed 107 - Human Anatomy, or equivalent. (grade of “C” or better)
4. Complete BioMed 108 - Human Physiology, or equivalent. (grade of “C” or better)
Upon completion of the pre-requisites, a student will be given a seat in the NEXT available class.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Submit to the Health Technologies Office:
 
  • completed RT application
  • proof of eligibility for Math 107
  • proof of eligibility for English 110
  • official transcripts from other colleges OR
  • unofficial SBCC transcripts
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO VERIFY RECEIPT OF ALL TRANSCRIPTS AND COMPLETION OF APPLICATION FILE.

APPLICATIONS are on a FIRST-COME / FIRST-SERVED basis
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Before entering the Radiography Program students are required to:
 
  1. Complete RT 101 – Introduction to Radiologic Technology (Fall or Spring semester); grade of “C” or better.
  2. Attend an RT Orientation meeting the semester prior to entry (date and time will be announced);
  3. Complete the SBCC physical examination on SBCC form including immunizations;
  4. Obtain a CPR card, which must be kept current throughout the program;
  5. Pay a one-time Radiation Film Badge fee at registration; and
  6. File a college application in the Admissions Office, the semester prior to beginning classes at SBCC.
SHADOW PROGRAM
A “Shadow” program is available for those interested in observing in a radiography setting for one day. For more information, contact the Application Secretary in the Health Technology Office between 9:00-12:00, Monday to Friday at 965-0581, x2366.

PROGRAM COMPLETION
A passing grade in all general education courses and a grade of “C” or better in all courses for the major is required to receive an Associate Degree in Radiography from SBCC.

Any student who misses ten percent or more of the clinical portion of the program each semester is subject to dismissal pending faculty review.

Campus classes provide theory and laboratory practice, which is correlated with clinical experience in the Radiology Departments of the following affiliated institutions:

ASSESSMENT TESTING
Make an appointment for the math & English assessment test with the Admissions Office. You do not need to take the test if:
1 you can show eligibility for Math 107 and English 110 on SBCC transcripts; OR
2. you can show that you have had the equivalent of Math 100 and English 110 with a grade of “C” or better on another college campus; OR
3. you have received required scores on the SBCC assessment test. You must submit a copy of your test results to the Health Technologies Office.
TRANSCRIPTS

Submit “official” transcripts from high school and previous college work. "Official" transcripts are sent from the original school in a sealed envelope directly to SBCC Health Technology Office. For SBCC transcripts go to the Admissions Office in person and request a transcript be sent.
