SNOW and lots of it!!!! The Mammoth 2008 trip took place during the biggest storms to hit the Sierra's in 50 years. The group cautiously approached the Sierra's with hopes to slip in between these monstrous storms and catch the road when it opened. It worked!!!! The road opened in time and we snuck in 30 minutes before the next storm hit.

This was a group of die-hard riders and skiers, leaving for the montain at 8:00 and closing the lifts down every day. The students pushed their limits and 2/3 of the group was successfully taking double black diamonds by the end of the week. This was by far our most advanced group in three years. The beginners and intermediates advanced to skiing the majority of the lower half of the mountain. All riders and skiers participated in the great race across the mountain and back, with pictures taken at all lodges and the Panoroma station. It was a close race with the winning team finishing within seconds of the second place team!

The group bonded well both on the mountain and during our evening activities. Several have already reserved their spot for next year.

Join us next year as we experience new adventures during our Mammoth 2009 trip during SBCC's first winter intersession.

Everyone will agree….we will never forget Mammoth 2007! The group was talented (in many ways!), energetic, funny, diverse, extreme, and completely engaged in our activities. The weather was as extreme as the group, with temperatures at the beginning of the week in the 30's-40's, and by the end of the week we experienced -30 degrees wind chill at the top of the mountain! Needless to say we learned the definition of an "arctic chill".

Aside from the skills we learned on the mountain, we also learned to work together as a group and assist each other with the unexpected incidents that often occur in a mountain environment. The mountain environment, along with skiing and snowboarding, present's high-risk situations…..the ability to make the appropriate choices was key to safely enjoying this amazing experience.

We are all thankful for the friendships developed, skills and lessons learned. I know everyone is already looking forward to next year. We will always remember our new final night tradition - dinner and karaoke night at Sherwins! Looking forward to seeing all of you on the slopes!

SKI AND SNOWBOARD MAMMOTH 2006 WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

After a week of unusually warm weather, with the exception of one day of snow, the students and instructors returned tired and happy! After six plus hours a day on the snow, plenty of sunshine, and the great race across the mountain, students were already dreaming about their next trip to Mammoth...
