Student Services

From academic counseling to health and wellness, students at Santa Barbara City College are provided with an array of support services that will enhance their academic experience and their participation in campus life.

We invite you to explore the many programs, services and resources available to ensure your student's personal and academic success.

Academic Counseling
Counselors at the Academic Counseling Center help students create a custom "Student Success Plan," which outlines a course of study based on their major and transfer plans.

Bookstore
Students can find books and supplies required for classes at the Campus Bookstore, which also offers discounted software for students and a selection of clothing, notebooks, and other items with SBCC's insignia.

Cartwright Learning Resources Center (CLRC)
The Cartwright Learning Resources Center provides learning support to the SBCC community in a variety of ways: free tutoring in a range of subjects, tutoring at the Writing Center, tutor training, computer access, supplemental instructional materials in a variety of media, and learning skills workshops.

Counseling Services
Short-term individual counseling, education and prevention programs, and community referrals are available through the Student Health Services and Wellness Program.

Computers on Campus
SBCC has many Computer Resources with over 1,200 computers available for student use at several locations on campus. The campus is equipped with free wireless internet access and students may print their work for a limited fee at the Eli Luria Library, the Cartwright Learning Resources Center, and the Cyber Center.


Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS)
DSPS services include counseling, extended times on tests, priority registration, assistive technology, adapted equipment and more.

Eli Luria Library
The Eli Luria Library offers an extensive collection of books and periodicals and professional librarians are available to assist students with research. The Cyber Center is equipped with computer workstations, scanners, photocopiers, and laser printers. Students enjoy comfortable seating, individual work carrels and group study rooms, and a Buzz Shack snack shop.

Food Services
Students have several affordable dining choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including a cafeteria, a cafe, and two snack shops. 

Gateway to Student Success
The Gateway Program is part of the “Partnership for Student Success,” which provides tutors in the classroom for a variety of subjects.

Health Services/Wellness Program
The Health Services and Wellness Program's emphasis is on health education, disease prevention, and peer education. A registered nurse is on duty and physicians are available for treatment of acute care needs upon referral from Health Services.

Housing
The Office of Student Life maintains a listing of local property managers, a website for rental/roommate referrals, and limited opportunities for private residence hall housing.

Pipeline
An easy-to-use web portal that provides access to online registration, campus debit card, grades and file storage.

Schall Career Center
Counselors at the Schall Career Center provide students with job referrals, internships and volunteer opportunities, and assist students with resume writing and interview skills.

Transfer Students, College Flags

Transfer Center
The Transfer Center offers transfer advising and workshops and hosts admissions representatives from four-year colleges and universities.

The Transfer Academy guides students through the process of qualifying for Transfer Admission Guarantees with UCSB, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, CSU Northridge, Antioch University, and priority transfer admission to UCLA.

Transportation and Parking
Parking permits are available for students to purchase. Students may also purchase a bus pass and ride the Metropolitan Transit District bus (MTD) to campus or ride their bike.
