After entry into the program, an Assessment of the Fundamentals of Nursing will be administered to evaluate knowledge of theoretical content. This assessment will be reviewed and recommendations may be made for optional learning experiences based on results.
Clinical "competence" and theoretical knowledge is required for skills in all nursing courses, which have been waived. Clinical competence is the mastery of nursing skills according to ADN clinical criteria as specified in each module. The student must also demonstrate knowledge of the nursing process and "Basic Standards for Safe Practice" as defined by the SBCC ADN Program. If the student is not able to demonstrate clinical competence, specific learning activities will be assigned by the clinical instructor.
