Teaching Experience
I have been a member of the AD Nursing faculty since September 1980. Prior to coming to SBCC, I worked in a variety of nursing positions as a staff nurse in supervisory roles and have taught in all levels in nursing education (diploma, vocational, associate degree and baccalaureate).. At SBCC, I have served as Acting Dean for Health Technologies & Director of the Nursing Program. Currently, I teach, Care of the Surgical Patient, Advanced Elimination Needs and Current Issues. Clinically, I am approved by the BRN to work with students on general medical-surgical units as well as in all specialty areas including critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health.

In addition to my work with the AD Nursing Program, I have participated in governance activities within the SBCC campus community - having served two terms as President of the Academic Senate. Currently, I am serving on The Planning and Resources committee with the Academic Senate and on the steering committee preparing the self study for the college's fall 2009 accreditation visit by WASC.

Professional Experience
I am actively involved with several organizations that promote &/or support nursing including the National League for Nursing (NLN), the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools and the Professional Advisory Committee for Visiting Nurses & Hospice Care of Santa Barbara. I regularly serve as an accreditation visitor with the NLN Accrediting Commission and the Evaluation Review Panel of the NLNAC.

Personal Statement
My personal motto is "Anchored in Ethics; Pledged to Excellence; and Committed to Service". I continually strive to share my love and enthusiasm for nursing with the students whose lives I touch. Through them, I know that I am helping shape the future of the Nursing Profession!
