Program Requirements & Application Procedure
Santa Barbara City college accepts applications from men and women, minimum 16 years of age, with English language skills.
A high school diploma is not required.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Applications are available on the web site or the Health Technologies Office, room, A218.
- Students must provide verification of eligibility for English 70 and 80. (Information about free English testing is available at the SBCC Assessment Office, (805) 965-0581, ext. 2349, Student Services Room 251 or at www.sbcc.edu/assessment).
Program Admission
Students will be accepted into the program on a first-come, first serve basis following the completion of college and state requirements. A list of alternates is maintained in the event an opening becomes available. All students who successfully complete CNA training and the California Exam may progress to the Acute Care and Home Health Aide classes. Additional CNAs will be admitted into the Acute Care and/or HHA class as space is available.
Admission Procedure After Acceptance and Before Entering the CNA/HHA Program
After the Health Technology application procedure is completed, you will receive a packet with instructions to complete the following:
1. File SBCC college application in the Admissions Office.
2. Complete Physical Exam
3. Obtain adult CPR certification for Health Care Provider or Professional Rescuer
4. Show Social Security card, a copy will be made by school personnel for your records.
Note: All Students will be fingerprinted the first day of class. If you have been convicted of certain Penal Code Violations, the State of California may not issue certification, even if you pass the CNA 101 course. The CNA application has more specific information. It is available in the Health Technologies Office, room A218.
