SBCC Drawing New Redistricting Lines
The Santa Barbara Community College District Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on approving a new proposed redistricting plan at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday, December 15, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the SBCC MacDougall Administration Building, Room 211.
The proposal would change the SBCC District from an at-large election model with seven trustees representing four designated geographical areas to a by-trustee model with seven trustees and seven designated districts. Each trustee must live in his/her designated district and can be elected only by voters residing in that district.
The change is being made to create districts of comparable population size and to avoid potential violation of the California Voting Rights Act.
For further information, a map of the proposed redrawn district lines, and trustee representation, please go to the SBCC Web site at: http://www.sbcc.edu/boardoftrustees/files/Redistricting%20Web%20Copy%2012-11_Final_1.pdfRecent Press Releases
