SBCC Dance Concert Visions Memories and Dreams
Parts of Santa Barbara City College’s scenic campus will become the backdrop for “Visions, Dreams & Memories” a live performance by 20 SBCC Dance Concert Course students on Friday, and Saturday, October 23 -24 at 2 p.m. on the College’s Main Campus.
The site-specific program will begin at the Physical Education Building Room 113 with a tour guide taking the audience through the Environmental Horticulture Department’s scenic Lifescape Gardens and the College’s Winslow Maxwell Overlook with views of the Santa Barbara Harbor. Guests will be greeted and entertained along the route by the student dancers appropriately attired as Spirits and Roustabouts.
The 60-minute performance, which includes dance, music and song, will be filmed and shown in the fall as a community screening. It will also be used as the basis for a Spring 2010 dance concert that will take place at a theatrical venue in Santa Barbara.
Pamela Lappen, Associate Professor of Dance and program choreographer, said, “This performance is a huge educational opportunity for our students and also allows us to share different areas of our beautiful campus.”
She added, “I want to particularly thank our Environmental Horticulture Department and Film Studies Department for assisting us with this project. Their cooperation has been critical in pulling all the elements of this performance together.”
Tickets for “Visions, Dreams & Memories” are $10 for adults, $5 for students and children. Fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. For information or reservations, please call (805) 892-3732.
