Twelve Santa Barbara City College faculty members went from tenure-track to fully tenured professors, in a touching ceremony at the college’s JSB Cafe on Thursday, April 19.
SBCC Superintendent/President, Dr. Anthony Beebe, spoke to the newly-tenured faculty, recognizing them for their unique talents and tremendous service to the College and its students. Executive Vice President Paul Jarrell and Interim Dean of Humanities Kathy Molloy introduced each honoree by reciting accolades from their colleagues as well as their students. The faculty members, in turn, provided their own personal accounts of what teaching at SBCC has meant to them. Although their stories varied, each honoree emphasized their love of teaching and the positive life changes afforded them by the opportunity to teach at the College.
The instructors were hired as tenure-track faculty in Fall, 2014. Their fully tenured positions begin in the Fall 2018 semester.
