SBCC Trustees Finalize President Search Committee Members

On Thursday, February 11, 2016, the SBCC Board of Trustees appointed two members of the community to serve on the Screening Committee that will review applications for the College President position. The Board provided feedback on their priority characteristics in the search for a new President. The top priorities were being an experienced college and community leader, being highly skilled in financial and operational oversight, and a successful communicator.

The 16-member Committee is comprised of representatives from College faculty, classified employees, administrators, students, community members, and a representative from the Foundation for SBCC.

The Board received five letters of interest to serve as community representatives on the Committee. After reviewing the letters and discussing their merits, the Board voted to appoint Robert Egenolf and Billie Maunz. Additionally, the Board voted to appoint Geoff Green, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for SBCC, to serve as Co-Chair of the Screening Committee. The remaining Co-Chair will be named by the Committee. 

The Screening Committee’s ultimate responsibility is to recommend to the Board three to five finalists, any of whom, in the committee’s judgment, reflects the priorities set forth by the Board and could serve effectively as the Superintendent/President of Santa Barbara City College. The screening committee will hold its first meeting on February 18, 2016.

The application period for the Superintendent/President position closes on March 16, 2016.
