Music Academy of the West presents the 70th Anniversary Community Concert featuring the New York Philharmonic, Academy Festival Orchestra and LA Master Chorale.

Santa Barbara City College is thrilled to host the 70th Anniversary Community Concert on July 31, at La Playa Stadium. This is the largest classical music event in Santa Barbara history and will offer 7,000 $10 and free tickets to the community.

The historic concert will mark Alan Gilbert’s final appearance as New York Philharmonic Music Director. Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony will feature Music Academy superstar alumni soprano Susanna Phillips (‘02,’03) and mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke ('02), joined by tenor Joe Kaiser, bass Morris Robinson, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale in the iconic “Ode to Joy,” closing with a stunning fireworks display over the ocean.

GENERAL ADMISSION
$10 TICKETS General admission tickets (bleacher seating, first-come, first-served) are $10 each. Tickets ordered at musicacademy.org may be self-printed or displayed on your mobile device at the entrance to the venue. Tickets also may be purchased in person at the Music Academy Carsey Ticket Office, 1070 Fairway Road in Montecito, from 10 am - 4 pm. Tickets will not be mailed. General admission tickets are limited to 10 per person. You can also call 805-969-8787.

YOUTH TICKETS
Ages 7-17 receive a FREE general admission ticket when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Youth tickets must be ordered in advance online, via phone, or in person. Please note this concert is not recommended for children under seven years old.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING
There will be a large handicap accessible seating area at the top of La Playa Stadium and handicap parking will be available in the lots at the top of the stadium. For more information, please visit musicacademy.org

In preparation for the performance by the New York Philharmonic, on July 31, there will be important closures you should be aware of.

On the night of Tuesday, July 25, security will block off all of parking lot 2-C to prepare for the arrival of equipment. We anticipate this lot will remain closed and reopen on Thursday, July 27. The lot 2-c panhandle will remain closed until the conclusion of the event.

Beginning Wednesday, July 26 through Wednesday, August 2, the entire La Playa Stadium (including the Press Boxes) will be closed.

Beginning on the night of July 30, the following areas will be blocked off through the duration of the event: Lot 2-B Lot 2-C Lot 3 50 stalls in Lot 1-B (near top Stadium entrance) For a map of the SBCC Campus with Parking Lots, see attached.
