Dr. John Clark

John Clark earned his Ph.D. in Music History at UC Santa Barbara. He has taught music history and theory at Cal State Bakersfield, Ball State University in Indiana, and Towson State University in Baltimore. He is active as a pianist and conductor specializing in 20th century music. In 1979, Dr. Clark founded the New Music Ensemble "Prisms" at UCSB. He has performed and conducted 20th century music in many cities in the United States and Canada. He has also composed music in a wide variety of styles including concert works, jazz, and rock. He has written music for commercials and several video projects. Dr. Clark composed music for the Pulitzer Prize winning play "The Kentucky Cycle" which was premiered in March of 1995 and has recently written and recorded the theme for the cable television series "Boundless Opportunities". Dr. Clark teaches courses in music history and theory, jazz theory, and song writing.
