The Director of Choral Activities

The Artistic Director, Nathan J. Kreitzer, is the newest addition to the faculty at the Santa Barbara City College Music Dept. Since joining the department, the enrollment for the choral program is at a record high with three choruses, the one hundred-voice Concert Choir, the twenty-voice Chamber Singers, and the twenty-voice Quire of Voyces,

which is new to the college. Kreitzer hopes to rekindle the days of the 'golden age' of choral music when many people enjoyed the art of choral singing. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance and a Master's degree in
Choral Conducting from the University of California, Irvine. As a professional vocalist, he has appeared with the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, the Ventura Master Chorale, the Pacific Chorale of Orange County, the Irvine Camerata, as wellas the Oregon Bach Festival Singers directed by Helmuth Rilling. He has studied under such conductors as Gary Unruh, John Alexander and Robert Page. Kreitzer has been singing and conducting professionally since 1989. He currently resides happily in Santa Barbara where he is Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Santa Barbara City College and Director of Music at the First United Methodist Church.
