LATN 101: Beginning Latin I

Skills Advisories: Eligibility for ENG 110 or ENG 110H.

Beginning course in reading, grammar and syntax of classical Latin. Study of the presence of Latin in modern languages, sciences and culture.

LATN 102: Beginning Latin II

Prerequisites: LATN 101 or two years of high school Latin or qualifying score on SBCC SoML placement exam.

Continuation of Latin 101. Focuses on reading, grammar and syntax of classical Latin. Study of the presence of Latin in modern languages, sciences and culture.

LATN 132: Ancient Origins of Modern English

Skills Advisories: Eligibility for ENG 110 or 110H.

Designed to increase English vocabulary and the knowledge of ancient concepts behind the terminology of medicine, science, economics, politics, and law. Topics include Ancient Greek and Latin components in English, word building, and the historical and political origins of important English words.
