The Marine Technology modular curriculum has been designed
with diverse academic and vocational requirements. Hands-on
applied learning, student mastery of skills and academics
performance are the guiding principles for student success.
The 32 week two-semester program can lead to commercial
diving industry certifications from both The
Association of Diving Contractors (ADC) and The
Association
of Commercial Diving Educators (ACDE) under ANSI/ACDE-01-1998
as required by OSHA in the United States.
The curriculum has been designed for those who are
disciplined, professional and serious about professional
marine technology careers. SBCC's unique program offers
multiple career options at affordable community college
tuition rates.
The program is structured so that modules can generally
be completed in two successive semesters for those who
choose to attend full-time. For those students desiring
to earn a college certificate or an A.S. degree, an
additional 1-2 semesters may be required, depending
on prior coursework and transfers. Part time attendance
is common for working adults and students.

SBCC is fully accredited by the Western
Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and Approved
by the California Department of Education for the training
of vetrans under provisions of the GI Bill or Rights,
and the US Immigration and Naturalization Service for
non-quota immigration students in accordance with the
Immigration Act of 1924.
The Marine Technology program is fully accredited by
the Association of Commercial
Diving Educators (ACDE), the National
Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and
is a member of the Association
of Diving Contractors (ADC).
