F. FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

1. Students who meet fellow students will have a better sense of "family" in the classroom for the semester.

ACTIVITY: name cards - Students write their name on a folded card and place it on top of their computer or desk for the first weeks of class. This helps everyone to learn each others name.

2. Students can get to know each other in class by exchanging personal information and introducing each other at first class.

ACTIVITY: information card exchange and introductions - Students are asked to complete cards with basic information such as name, courses taken, work, goals, etc. Then the students exchange the cards with a neighbor in class and introduce themselves. Next, the partner introduces the student to the rest of the class, using the card as notes.

3. Students will enjoy fellow students and encourage each other to succeed if they are given the opportunity to work together and can form bonds.

ACTIVITY: Co-operative or group activities - Students are given a group assignment in every class, for some portion of the class. They can go over homework problems , do a "practice test" together, or work a group problem for presentation to the rest of the class. If they are only given one copy per group then they must work together to complete task.
