Task Precision and Time Management
For class assignments and papers, I distribute detailed, explicit criteria by which each assignment will be graded and points assigned. We read through the criteria together, respond to any questions, reaffirm the due dates and deadlines, and encourage an early start on assignments. For term papers, I require evidence of early work, i.e., submissions of outlines and drafts, etc. Then, as the course proceeds, students are given various scales to assess their study habits and time management practices, with tips on how to develop better habits.
