Use of the internet

Require or encourage use of the internet for class assignments and research. Aside form the precision needed to do a search, the students who have not previously had to use this tool will be thankful for the experience once they have done it.

 

Description of activity or assignment

Using the internet for research requires precision in requesting information. Conversion of one or more assignments to require use of the internet will force the students to become familiar with this tool.

 

Materials needed

New materials may not have to be generated. Modifying existing assignments, requiring an internet search in addition to or to replace traditional sources.

 

Procedure and time needed

No additional time should be required except to reassure those who have not used the internet, that they are capable. If desired, taking those who need special help to the lab for a demonstration may be arranged.

 

Connection to campus resources if applicable

Computer access to the internet is available to every student in the library. Tutors are on duty to help those who need it.
