Wellness 2 -- Mary Gibson
Circulation and announcements of a "Did you know?" flyer highlighting various student services including health and wellness. Have pamphlets on hand for that day's service.
Description of activity or assignment
At certain times during the semester I attach a flyer to my circulating sign-in roster highlighting various services at SBCC. This serves as a reminder to students to take advantage of the services available. They hear about these services at orientation, but often forget that they are there. By setting up me own system and schedule I can make sure I cover the bases and simply add information as it comes up in the college memo or on e-mail. I've tried to hone this down to "10 Things You knew About SBCC But Forgot" and include such areas as:
1) Writing labs and tutors
2) open entry computer labs
3) open entry skills classes and personal development classes
4) how to remove a D or a W from your transcript
5) mental health
6) physical health
7) counseling
8) TAP- Transfer services
9) Career Center
10) DSPS
11) Scholarships and Financial Aid
12) Student Senate and Clubs
Materials needed
Flyers highlighting the service. Brochures from the service area.
Procedure and time needed
Initial organization and gathering of information is time-consuming. In fact for me this is still a work in progress. Once I have it set up, I expect that it will not take much time.
Connection to campus resources if applicable
Each service area highlighted.
