To access the Internet, an Internet Service Provider (ISP) is needed. Most home users connect to the Internet with a modem, which is a device that allows your computer to communicate with another computer over a phone line. It converts the computer's digital signals into the analog signals necessary for phone-line transmission. There are several other ways of connecting to the Internet including WebTV, ISDN lines, DSL and cable modems.

There are many options for Internet service. Some of the best are:

  • Verizon offers DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) service. DSL is a technology developed to send high-speed transmissions over standard copper telephone wires. Call (877) 483-9322.
  • Earthlink is one of the largest national providers and offers many additional services and advantages. Call 1-888-EARTHLINK x3500.
