Instructions for Completing a Transcript Evaluation Request

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to receive an evaluation, you must have a student ID number. To get a student ID number, follow step #1 at http://www.sbcc.edu/hit/website/admissions.html

NEW PROCEDURES! Please read carefully! We are now asking all students to prepare a self evaluation of previous coursework as the first step.

Complete the Student Self Evaluation form - enter into the form the courses that you have previously completed and that, in your judgment, should be accepted to meet the requirements.

2.	Complete the Transcript Evaluation Request form http://www.sbcc.edu/hit/website/docs/transcript_evaluation.pdf
3.	MAIL your Self Evaluation form and your Transcript Transcript Evaluation Office SBCC Santa Barbara City College 721 Cliff Drive Santa Barbara, CA 93109-2394 NOTE: Faxed or emailed evaluation paperwork will not be accepted.
4.	Official transcripts are required. Please read the following: It is preferred that you submit official transcripts in their sealed envelope with your Transcript Evaluation Request and Self Evaluation to the Transcript Evaluation Office. However, if you had your official transcripts sent directly to Admissions, you may verify that they have been received by following the information available at http://www.sbcc.edu/hit/website/transcript_instructions.pdf.
5.	When the review and approval of your forms have been completed, you will be notified on your SBCC PIPELINE e-mail account. Please allow up to 4 weeks. NOTE: If after four weeks you have not received this notification, you may contact Gwyer Schuyler, Academic Counselor, at schuyler@sbcc.edu.
6.	SBCC reserves the right to request further documents as needed to conduct an evaluation.
7.	In some cases, evaluation of courses for subject and/or unit credit must be reviewed by the SBCC department offering a similar course.
8.	For international transcript evaluation procedures, students must provide: a) Official transcripts from prior institution. b) Official evaluation of student's transcripts completed by an independent transcript evaluation service approved by SBCC. 	Important Notes regarding international transcript evaluation reports: 1. All agencies are private organizations. It is the responsibility of the student to pay for the services rendered. 2. The evaluation services listed are the only ones accepted by SBCC. 3. You should request a detailed or comprehensive report that includes a course-by-course review with unit value, grade, and lower/under division breakdown. 4. It is important for the student to provide complete and accurate information, following the specific directions of the respective agencies.
