SBCC FACULTY EXCELLENCE AWARD
|
Interview with Maryellen Kelley :
What teaching tip or counseling advice do you have for other faculty?
If there's not an element of fun in what you're doing, don't proceed with it
'cause it's not holy.
What careers or jobs did you have before working at SBCC?
I was a dilettante disguised as a respectable professional.
Who was your most important influential teacher and why?
The family dog - he was loyal, curious, non-judgmentlal, listened,
comforted, each new moment was a brand new chance, never held
a grudge, accepted me with unquestioning love, encouraged me to
be as wonderful as he thought i was, excelled at being himself and
had the wisdom to flop down for a nap any time any place whenever
he felt the need...except for that last, my husband would tie for first!
What do you love about your job?
That I'm still a dilettante disguised as a respectable professional.
What has been your greatest accomplishment and/or challenge?
Marrying Gene R. Kelley - same answer to both parts of the question.
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
That I hate questionaires a whole lot.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Having cause to be grateful.
What is your personal motto?
""What matters most must not be at the mercy of what matters least"
- de Montaigne
