SBCC Cross Country
Welcome to the SBCC Cross Country web page. We take great pride in offering you an opportunity to work with an exceptional coaching staff. Our program is designed for student-athletes who have the desire to succeed at the highest levels of competition.
The SBCC Vaqueros compete in the Western State Conference, which is home to 13 schools battling for the opportunity to be the best in our region. Santa Barbara City College is the perfect spot for elite runners with the world's best climate, world-class facilities and hilly terrain that's ideal for training. There are few other places in the world where an athlete can have the opportunity to speed train at sea level and then climb in elevation for altitude training.
Miguel Galindo, a former WSC champion at Ventura College and a part-time teacher, was named head coach in June, 2006. At 29, he's the youngest Vaquero coach and he plans to use his enthusiasm and experience to restore the luster to the men's and women's programs.
