Welcome from the Executive Director
As Executive Director, I would like extend a warm welcome to the SBCC Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL). In September 2012, with the support of the SBCC Board of Trustees, a new path was set for the SBCC Continuing Education Division to serve the needs of our increasingly diverse community through a new Center for Lifelong Learning. Our core belief is that lifelong learning is critical to the vitality of our community, and our core values include ensuring that these programs remain vibrant, accessible and affordable.
CLL is conceived as a premier, first-class fee-based program - one with a rich, dynamic, and vibrant set of offerings. These defining concepts for CLL have been shaped by our dedicated staff with the support of volunteer advisors from all walks of life in Santa Barbara, and for whose dedication, caring and time we offer a huge thank you.
We invite everyone in the community to come try something new, to follow a dream, to hone skills for success, to stay fit and healthy, to travel the world right in your own backyard, to find your center… to discover your potential at any age. And to do so among friends, in a welcoming, encouraging environment with professionals sharing their knowledge and experience as your teachers, guides and mentors.
We hope it is clear, through the hundreds of weekday, evening and weekend classes available in dozens of categories, that the Center for Lifelong Learning is committed to responding to the needs of our diverse community. Your needs, your passions, your community.
We also look to the community for support so we can continue to serve today’s and tomorrow’s generations of lifelong learners through scholarships and community enrichment programs.
As we create this new path together, through a relevant, enriching and expansive curriculum, we also celebrate the heritage of the program that has enhanced the lives of adults in our community for more than 60 years.
