What dos the CEIA do?
Liaison with Administration
Established in 1986, the CEIA is the voice of instructors and maintains regular contact with the Continuing Education administration
to represent the interests of instructors and to receive information about any developments that may affect them. The Executive
Board confers yearly with the SBCC President to approve our salary and benefits agreement.
Mediation Process
The CEIA Board plays a key role in the mediation procedure to review problems concerning individual rights, benefits or working
conditions. The purpose is to listen to all sides of a problem and to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution.
Advocacy
Representing CE instructors, the CEIA Board advocates for fair and equitable practices and policies that affect CE instructors.
Professional Development
The association encourages professional growth and acts as a facilitator for workshops, seminars and other avenues to promote
faculty professional development.
Promote Solidarity
The CEIA provides a forum for instructors to openly communicate with each other in a supportive environment. SBCC Continuing
Education teachers are invited to join with fellow professionals in an organization that was formed to meet instructors' needs.
Who should join?
Any Continuing Education Division instructor teaching in the academic year is eligible for membership. Seasoned vets and newcomers
alike are welcome. CEIA membership is only $10.00 for the academic year. Instructors may join at any point in the year. Membership
ends at the conclusion of the CE summer term and renewal is requested in the CE fall term.
