 Internship — Jumpstart your Career!

Choose A Major!  Feeling confused about what you should study in college?  Need help narrowing the choices from all the possible college majors?  Feeling pressured to decide because everyone else seems to have a major?  Learn how to explore and research majors and find one that works for you! Hands-on work included.

How to Find a Job in a Tough Economy  Having trouble finding a job?  Learn how to maximize your chances of getting a job when job seekers outnumber job openings.  Use all means possible:  on-line postings and web sites, networking and informational interviews, resumes, and cover letters.

Internship — Jumpstart your Career!  Learn why internships can be an effective and important career tool—especially in today’s tight job market.  Learn what kinds of internships there are, how to find them, and how to propose one with a prospective employer of interest.

Which Career is Right for Me?  There probably isn’t just one right for you, with new job titles being created every year and over 40,000 job titles out there.   Learn how to explore career options and select those that match your interests.  Use on-line tools such as EUREKA, California Career Zone and more.  Learn about projected outlook and salaries for almost any career. See how informational interviews and internships might help in your decisions.

Interviewing For Success  Learn the basics of interviewing, what employers look for, questions to expect and how to prepare to put your best foot forward. Mock interview practice (optional at the end).

Résumé Writing Learn the basics and more of résumé writing.  Tailor your résumé to the job you want for maximum success.  Whether you are writing a résumé for the first time or updating it, this workshop is for you. (Optional: bring your current résumé for review or create a new one at the end.)
