Linda Ekstrom received her M.F.A. degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1996. Her work has been included in both solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, including the Center for the Book, New York; LIMN Gallery, San Francisco; Frumkin Gallery, Santa Monica; and the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield Connecticut; and Barnsdall Museum, Los Angeles. Ekstrom's work has been reviewed in Art in America, Sculpture Magazine, the Los Angeles Times and various other publications. Since 1996 she has served as Artist in Residence in the Center for the Study of Religions at UCSB. In my sculptures and installation spaces I explore the subjects of memory and identity and a range of issues at the center of religious tradition and practice. My work is rooted in the book as both a symbolic and cultural object, and I am particularly interested in exploring the ritual dimensions present in art practice. I have also executed a number of memorial spaces which actualize issues around the Holocaust. ![]() |
