Nevin Littlehale earned his bachelors' degree from Syracuse University in 1998 and his Masters Degree from the New York Academy of Art in 2000. Nevin lived and worked as a professional artist between New York City and Pietrasanta, Italy from 1990- 2005. More important than having received grants, scholarships and awards, he has had the opportunity to study under some of the finest mentors and craftspeople from around the world. Nevin is pleased to find the same quality of people with whom to share his experience here at Santa Barbara City College. My teaching philosophy is to teach by example, to guide the student in a direction of self-realization and to create a rapport that encourages rather than discourages.
To teach by example is to be an active artist, who is making work, exhibiting, and continuing to study and learn.
To guide a student in a direction of self- realization is to listen to their ideas and observe their skills, and then lead them in a direction that most efficiently helps them grow.
To create a rapport that encourages rather than discourages is to be critical in a fashion that gives them a sense of enlightenment as opposed to a sense of emptiness.
