Working in a wide range of mediums, from installations to prints, Dane Goodman has shown his artwork in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle. In Santa Barbara his work has been exhibited at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the SB Contemporary Arts Forum, UCSB Art Museum, SB City College Atkinson Gallery, Westmont College Reynolds Art Gallery, SB County’s Peake Gallery, Ro Snell Gallery, Perch Gallery, and Monleo Gallery. In 2005 he was nominated for the Los Angeles based Friends of Contemporary Art’s FOCA Fellowship. This award honors artists who have made significant contributions to the visual arts in California. He has also been nominated for the National Awards in the Visual Arts and is a recipient of the County of Santa Barbara Award for Individual Artist. He has been a lecturer and artist-in-residence at colleges and universities in California and the Midwest. Locally his artwork is in the collection of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the University of California, Santa Barbara, Art Museum. During summer 2008, Goodman served as a panelist for the National Endowment of the Arts. He is married to the artist Marie Schoeff and they have a daughter, Perry. After working for eighteen years at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art where he was the Designer and Coordinator of Exhibitions, he is now the Director of the Atkinson Gallery at Santa Barbara City College. |
