After graduating with my BA in Psychology from UCSB, the opportunity arose for me to work as the Education Coordinator for the Museum of Photographic Arts (MoPA) in San Diego. I was so impressed by the way MoPA’s Director, Arthur Ollman, used his knowledge of art and photography to educate museum guests that I decided to return to school to study art history. I went to UC Davis, where I got my MA in Art History and then continued on to UCSB, where I earned my doctorate in the History of Art with a major in the History of Photography. Most importantly, in graduate school I learned that I enjoyed teaching even more than museum work. At SBCC I have enjoyed teaching Introduction to Art, American Art and my first love, the History of Photography. My dissertation was published by the University of Arizona Press under the title: Hoover Dam: The Photographs of Ben Glaha. |
