The Atkinson Annex is proud to announce its third exhibition, which will feature the paintings and installation by Matthew Woodford. Matt is currently an exceptional student in the advanced painting class at SBCC. He has been in many collaborative shows including; the Student Show in 2006/07, Small Images in 2005, Gallery 855, The Perch Gallery, and Gallery 10 East Figueroa. He has also worked collectively on a mural project held at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Matt’s work reflects the time in which he lives. In a response to pondering humanity and today’s world he seeks to captivate an emotional response in all his paintings. Matt’s work grasps the viewers attention with the scale of his work and expressive text yet, leaving them affected by a reality commonly ignored.

“Matt Woodford at the Annex” is one exhibition of a continuing project curated by the Atkinson Gallery intern, Kelly Wheeler. It demonstrates a fine example of student work as well as the knowledge that has been passed on from the Gallery Director, Dane Goodman, to the Intern.
