About the Art Department
At the Santa Barbara City College Art Department, students interested in art, either as a vocation, or as an avocation, have an outstanding opportunity to prepare themselves for this field under the guidance of the Santa Barbara City College faculty. All art instructors are professional artists who exhibit on a national level.A wide variety of courses in studio art and art history are offered.
  
  
The department offers courses in painting, drawing, design, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and art history to give students maximum training either for transfer to another institution or to provide the necessary skills and concepts to proceed independently after leaving SBCC.
All lower division courses are transferable to other institutions for either the Art major, the art history major, or the non-Art major. While in attendance at SBCC, the student may obtain an Associate in Arts Degree (AA) which is the equivalent of the first two years of a four-year program. The student may then transfer to the institutions of choice for either the Bachelor of Arts(BA) or Bachelor of Fine Arts(BFA) degree. |
